About Simon Maple
My role as a developer advocate demands flexibility when working with developers, management, customers, sales, marketing and engineering teams, often at the same time. I thrive on doing this, while being responsible for important tasks such as budget management, planning, reporting, evangelism strategy, event speaker, running user groups, customer liaisons and of course making awesome videos!I present at major conferences around the world, including, JavaOne, Devoxx Fr, Devoxx UK, JavaZone, JavaLand, JAX and many many more. My passion and drive however is around communities, so I continues to work with local JUGs and present regularly at user groups as one off sessions or JUG tours around countries such as France JUG tour (9 sessions across 5 JUGs) and Poland (3 sessions across 3 JUGs).I've been a JUG leader with the London Java Community (London JUG, over 4000 members) for over 3 years, and have been the lead organiser for the annual LJC open conference for the last 2 years (> 150 attendees). I founded and am the leader of VirtualJUG (vJUG), which has already attracted nearly 2000 members, despite being created in November 2013. The goal of VirtualJUG is to enable developers around the world without access to a local JUG to enjoy the same top speakers and content that others are fortunate enough to see. As well as precise technical content, I also aim to create fun content to promote and push our technologies to make the Java image more fun, accessible and to widen the outreach of our technologies and products. Ping me to see some of our fun product videos! In April 2014, I was awarded the prestigious title of a Java Champion, joining an elite list of Java advocates for which I'm extremely proud.
Listed skills include Java, Software Development, Java Enterprise Edition, Web Development, and 21 others.
