I led the League’s immigration policy portfolio, supported analysis of health policy priorities (with a focus on Medicaid and health equity), and provided budget analysis for the areas of corrections and public health. My work involved data anlysis using the American Community Survey, state and national datasets, other governmental reports, and more. I wrote products such as research and policy briefs, fact sheets, blogs, and op-eds focused on these issue areas and proactive policy solutions that impact Michiganders and improve health and wellbeing. I represented the League on multiple statewide coalitions to provide stakeholder engagement, project planning, and advocacy support. I engaged with, and advocated to, government stakeholders, state legislators, and other external leaders; I also communicated with funders. I operationalized policies and procedures, envisioned new approaches, and worked across internal teams as part of strategic plan implementation. Member of the 2019-21 Class of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities' Fellowship Program.Authored numerous written products focused on a variety of public policy areas. These included immigration policy issues, such as state-level driver's license reforms and policies related to COVID-19 and its impacts on immigrant communities in Michigan; criminal justice legislation to remove fines & fees for driver's license suspensions; and a report on for-profit colleges in Michigan regarding enrollment, funding, outcomes, and regulatory environment (co-author). Analyzed the budget for the Department of Corrections as part of the League’s budget work. Represented the League on various state-level coalitions and in media related to policy areas.
