Simon currently is the head of price cap policy leading a team of people to deliver a major policy workstream driving changes to the default tariff price cap methodology, as well as influence the development of wider retail market policies and interventions. He is a subject matter expert with a detailed knowledge of the price control and wider aspects of monitoring the retail energy market. Simon has 4 years consultancy experience in the oil & gas industry as a Mechanical Engineer and 6 years in the water industry. He has an MSc in Global Energy Management with distinction. This course has given him an in depth understanding of the contemporary challenges facing the energy industry and issues related to policy and regulation of the energy market.Previous professional experience includes; carrying out hydropower feasibility studies, design of pumping systems, asset management studies, hydraulic design of water pipeline systems, technical drawing development and project managing diagnostic surveys of offshore and onshore installations. He has worked on Oil and Gas client facing projects in the North Sea, Denmark, North Africa, Angola, USA and the Middle East. He has also spent 6 months working in a voluntary capacity in the development sector in South Africa.
