Managed PRH UK's core ebook specifications and templates across all book types. Responsible for key supplier relationships, including establishing a new internal reporting system that used enhanced data tracking and analysis to improve supplier instructions and dialogue, resulting in a drop in ebook errors of over 80%.Spearheaded internal efforts towards accessibility in anticipation of the European Accessibility Act, working with stakeholders from all levels across the business and overseeing the creation of a roadmap to accessible files and metadata. Represented the company at multiple related committees and groups, and gave many talks including at the London Book Fair, the Inclusive Publishing Conference @ Google and many more.Was also responsible for monitoring and reporting on new and emerging technologies and providing training to colleagues around the business on ebook topics. I also worked on resolving tricky design problems when adapting print content for digital consumption in the constrained medium of ebooks, addressing the unique challenges of retaining brand value and producing quality content at scale.

In this role I would carefully examine upcoming books, and create design and technical guides and specifications for outsourced production staff to follow. Creatively reinterpreting complex and challenging print designs into enjoyable, manageable, digestible and practical electronic publications combined many skills and gave me a deep understanding of publication structure, digital design, manual creation/guide authoring and project management.

This role, in the huge early surge in the popularity of ebooks, saw me using proofreading and technical skills to quality check and edit the huge numbers of ebooks being rushed to market as sales took off in the burgeoning sector. I showed huge dedication and outpaced all goals set, and in particular excelled in technical understanding and was thus shortly promoted.

In my first full publishing production job, I performed key quality control and metadata checks on scientific journal publications for this dynamic open access publisher. I grew my skills in markup languages and proofreading, as well as other soft skills as I entered the world of publishing.
