Simon built and led a worldwide program management team responsible for Bing, Microsoft's search engine. As an integral part of the engineering organisation, the team covered 25 countries outside the US, delivering market insights, detailed data analytics and product roadmap information. The team also worked closely with the country and regional Microsoft business groups to help grow search advertising revenue and Bing brand reach. Simon led the team to become technical experts in Bing and its user experiences across multiple search domains that include Ads, Maps, Local search, Mobile search, Web relevance, ‘whole page’ experiences, News, Image and Video. Simon regularly delivered talks and presentations about Bing, its roadmap and its status to executive leadership, business groups and other MS engineering groups.

Bing Search Technology Centre Europe is an R&D engineering organisation with the mission to provide Bing as the best web search experience for international consumers. Simon built three test groups from the ground up in London, Paris and Wrocław respectively which oversaw the full launch of Bing in the UK, France, Germany and Australia. Accountable for Bing end-user experience, Simon delivered testing and release management of a diverse set of search features such as query suggestions, News, Commerce and Multimedia. Simon established release management and live site support processes for the organisation and drove adoption of Microsoft standards around service alerting, availability testing, security testing, A/B testing, performance testing & business continuity planning.

Simon was Head of International Test Strategy at Yahoo! spanning Emerging Markets, Asia and Europe. These regional engineering groups focused on Media and Community (social) based internet properties and platforms.With a distributed matrix organisation of over 150 test engineers across these 3 regions, Simon was responsible for aligning 9 distributed test groups in their test tools, test approaches and processes.

Macrovision also provided leading software products and platforms such as InstallShield and FlexNET licensing to companies such as Adobe, Autodesk and Microsoft.As the Global Director of Quality Assurance, Simon was responsible for a 100 strong test team across 5 locations in Europe, US and India. Simon’s groups handled all Macrovision’s product lines in both the entertainment and software divisions.

Simon led the European test organisation responsible for 5 products which included sophisticated DRM, security and digital watermarking solutions for games, music and movies distributed on physical media and over the internet.
