em- was founded by myself and Roger Morris in March 2001 and quickly established itself as one of the top five mortgage packagers in the UK, using a combination of excellent service andinnovative ideas to capture the market. em- had offices in Chester, Teesside, East Kilbride It had four sub-brands in addition to the residential lending arm em-homeloans:em-international; em-secured; em-commercial; and em-bridging.In its prime it was taking in over £100 million in new applications per month and completing in excess of £50 million in residential business per month, with an additional £15 million from our sub-brands. The company grew from 10 staff to 150 with me taking total responsability for over seeing the growth and recruitment.As one of the first packagers to offer online DIP and case tracking, em- continued to invest heavily in technology. They were the first to launch online generic application form which would give a further advantage to their introducers.The strength of this investment in technology has meant that em- had been able to develop market-leading products across its whole non-conforming branded range. As the first to launch free valuations and application fees – not as a promotional gimmick but as a fundamental part of our long-term offering to clients.I was a founding member of Professional Mortgage Packaging Association PMPAAnd also a founder member of the Regulated Association of Mortgage Packagers RAMP.
