Simon Turner has held diverse leadership roles in numerous facets of the hotel business including senior executive oversight of public and private hospitality enterprises. He has extensive global strategic and transactional leadership experience related to complex real estate assets, brands, and operating businesses His experience has also included advisory assignments, asset management, debt and equity capital-raising and restructuring, and M&A. Prior to forming Alpha Lodging Partners, his advisory and investment entity, he was President, Global Development at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Simon led a team of 100+ Development executives located across the world charged with growth of the company’s portfolio of managed and franchised hotels, as well as responsibility for real estate investment management for Starwood’s multi-billion-dollar hotel real estate holdings. In his role as an Executive Officer of the company, he had frequent interaction both on strategic and tactical matters with the Company’s Board of Directors.Before joining Starwood in 2008, Simon was one of two Principals with Hotel Capital Advisers, an investment advisory and asset management firm that managed HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Abdulaziz Al Saud’s international hotel investments, with a portfolio valued at $2B+. He led the acquisition, financing, renovation, reopening, and asset management of the Hotel George V in Paris, which was named by Forbes Magazine in 2003 as the best hotel in the world. Prior to this, Mr. Turner was an investment banker at Salomon Brothers, focusing exclusively on the hospitality sector based both in New York and London. Simon has gained deep and varied board experience having previously served as a director of Four Seasons Hotels, Inc., Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, ClubCorp Holdings, Inc., Extended Stay Hotels, Carey Watermark Investors, and Steigenberger Hotels AG. His public company board committee service has included serving on Human Resources/Compensation, Audit, Special, Nominating, and Corporate Governance committees. He is currently a board member of Sonder Holdings, Goldman Sachs Real Estate Income Trust, and Purchase Senior Learning Community.His private company advisory board service has included companies in hospitality technology, hotel management, alternative/experiential lodging, and real estate securities investment.
