I progressed to technical authority for a development program to take ownership of conflict mitigation, disaster risk reduction, mine awareness, early warnings, contingency planning, and recovery from major natural or man-made disasters across the Niger region. I lead teams of volunteers, professionals, operational staff, and a recovery complement. Took the lead with this international program funded by the United States government for post-conflict peace-building and violence mitigation working with vulnerable communities as well as local and national government bodies focused on the stabilization of volatile neighbourhoods through infrastructural rehabilitation and socio-cultural activities. MANDATE: To administer and control the seamless implementation of the HTI- PRESE program with a $25.7M budget and 100+ staff.==KEY CONTRIBUTIONS & ACHIEVEMENTS: Implemented approximately 700 projects in support of the PRESE effort in stabilizing Haiti’s most volatile communities following several years of instability and violence resulting from a 2004 coup d’état and subsequent electoral issues. Developed positive working relationships with other organizations across the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and worked effectively with host-country counterparts as well as Canadian and US ambassadors.

FOCAL POINT – Security Council Matters / DESK OFFICER – Forgotten Emergencies 2003-2005 United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, United States Brought on board as the main interlocutor for the Department on Security Council Affairs to lead preparation for meetings involving the incoming presidencies of the UN Security Council, develop recommendations for humanitarian assessment missions resulting in the establishment of multiple field offices, and participate in multi-departmental technical survey and fact-finding missions. MANDATE: To lead contingency planning and secure funding for strategies mitigating a variety of humanitarian emergencies affecting Chad and the CAR, while liaising with various interrelated organizations on regional humanitarian developments. KEY CONTRIBUTIONS & ACHIEVEMENTS:  Launched a task force for the Central African Republic and Chad in response to the Darfur Crisis that expanded to include the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the UNDP, and secured $300K in WB funding to improve transparency.  Represented OCHA in multi-departmental technical surveys and fact-finding missions, video teleconferences, and task forces, and ensured the continued prioritization of humanitarian crises in the briefings of incoming Security Council presidencies.
