I joined Dotcog – at that time a sister company to Cog Design – as the Web Manager. For the next 5 years, I helped elevate the company’s status to be one of the most influential web agency in the Cultural sector as well as turning its fortunes financially.Early 2009, in an attempt to refine the two companies offering, Dotcog merged with Cog Design. I continued my role as Web Manager, managing a small team of two front-end developers and working with a team of 5 designers. My roles included, amongst many others: UX designer, designer, technical lead, providing support to the two front-end developers, mentoring, project manager and client liaison. Essentially, it was my responsibility to ensure the web team produced creative, robust solutions for all of Cog’s clients.

I joined Associate Design as a Graphic Designer and was eventually made a Director of the company.Shortly after joining Associate Design, I was asked to build a website for a client and I was instantly hooked. From 1996 I worked both in the field of print and web. Then in 1999, my full-time role was solely to work as a web designer.

Fresh out of college, I was offered a role as a typesetter, where I was eventually responsible for running many of the day-to-day operations for this busy typesetting bureau. The main duties involved creating camera-ready artwork for print and producing Matchprint colour proofs. Sadly, since the advent of digital print, this industry no longer exists, however, it provided a great foundation in learning design from a different perspective.
