Topics include IOT (smart cities, motorways and autonomous construction), data (asset exposure, Grenfell, Carillion) and business agility (leveraging group capabilities creating new opportunities).

Advisory services to the Global Chief IT Architect and CIO communities navigating the dynamically evolving business landscape that BT works within such as the recent EE acquisition and regulatory directions. A current focus is maturing the Strategy and Architecture practices to ensure the Technology function delivers a highly business focused service in a more agile manner. The role requires managing and mentoring both upwards and downwards as well as developing a global Business Capability based approach and model.

Advisory services to the Chief Architect and CTO on all aspects of Enterprise Architecture delivery to mature the organisation. Integrating processes and deliverables across the EA and Technology function to ensure consistency and improve efficiency particularly around project reviews, governance processes, agile delivery models and ultimately raising the maturity of the technology organisation. Led the development of 2 critical digital first business programmes to drive JLR’s global expansion programme including developing a global manufacturing pattern that can be rolled out to support a globally distributed manufacturing supply chain. EA Ambassador leading to personal mentoring of a poorly performing team member. Led the Technology function to use a business capability approach in its work to ensure better alignment to the business strategy.

Provision of Cloud and Collaboration and Mobility strategy to a firm of Financial Advisers to reduce cost, increase collaboration and to provide a modern working environment to attract today’s digital savvy graduate talent. Planned move to a cloud based core operational system along with integration with Google DOCS. Re-planned the deployment till the operational system could provide the critical user launchpad.

A member of the Technology Leadership Team that advises the CIO. Reshaped the way the Architecture team engaged the Business to take a more business friendly ‘Outcomes and Capability’ based approach. Focussed on delivering rapid results in RMG’s new FTSE 100 environment whilst still maintaining the strategic view.Further achievements include• Shaped and assured RMG’s innovative cloud based integrated ecommerce platform. The platform excelled in the massive peaks of the Diamond Jubilee and London Olympics 2012.• Developed a customer focussed integration and mobile strategy to support the business transformation to be a Parcels company in the aggressive ecommerce market. This is published in the company accounts as a critical piece of the Business Strategy.• Developed a model of representing business change that focusses on demonstrating the business outcomes that will be achieved rather than the technology capabilities that will be delivered.• Architecture governance of circa £350M BAU run and £150M projects portfolio annually.• Justified the need to more than double the size of the EA team in the face of stringent cost reduction.• Developed a career development framework for the RMG Technology Organisation• Developed an integrated set of standards, patterns, policies and Roadmaps across all architecture and Business DomainsWorked in an Enterprise Architecture team that although small, had huge impact on the Group. Responsible for the application architecture of the RMG Estate. A key challenge was to reduce the £38M annual SAP cost to £15M over 3 years. Integral to the major group transformation procurements and is seen as a key player in this process. Experience encompassed strategy and architecture consultancy and delivery of business driven solutions, predominantly with very large scale complex deployments. Experienced in most sectors including central and local government, policing, retail, rail logistics energy and utilities, defence, telecoms and finance. Typical projects included Service Oriented Architectures, ERP and package based and independent design assurance and advisory services. These roles were either delivery side or client side and involved working with clients, competitors and partners at different levels in a highly collaborative manner.High performing and well respected Managing Enterprise Architect. Typically the lead in large engagements responsible for strategic direction, commercials as well as the day to day management of teams of up to 12 enterprise architects. Worked with business and technical stakeholders from CXO level down influencing all aspects of delivery from technical solution through to delivery approach and programme structure.
