Growing my photography and French-speaking skills in an international environment

My main task consisted of research assistance. Topics I researched includethe role of the German Foreign Ministry during the persecution of Jews during WWII, the role of Turkey during the same time period, literature review of current research into Nazi perpetrators, and legal persecution of industry perpetrators and compensation in the post-war time. My research was used for preparing study trips and workshops. I also assisted in their execution.

My work includedgiving guided city tours/presentations in French, German or English for up to 100 people,office work & e-mail correspondence with the visiting groups' leaders,researching & writing articles or conducting interviews (for example recording and transcribing a Holocaust Survivor's session with students),to help organising and installing exhibitions about various subjects andtext translation from English or French to German.Working there was accompanied by learning a ton about the Shoa, Jewish-Galician Culture, NGO & Museum-Work and also Eastern Europe.I spoke with British and Polish native speakers on a daily basis, which benefitted my abilities in both languages. The Centre for Dialogue generously supports its former volunteers with access to its broad network in the area.
