In this role, I provide organizational leadership to activities initiatives aimed at improving HIV prevention and relevant health outcomes for populations at risk of HIV in Ontario. My responsibilities include:• Developing comprehensive budgets and work plans for government funding exceeding $4 million.• Spearheading the development, implementation, and evaluation of capacity-building initiatives and resources aimed at healthcare providers.• Leading cross-functional hybrid teams comprising both union and non-union personnel, overseeing hiring, work plan development, performance management, and workflow management.• Collaborating closely with researchers to design and develop evidence-based research projects focused on enhancing HIV prevention strategies.• Cultivating effective working relationships and collaborations with various healthcare providers, policy makers, researchers, and community-based organizations.In this role, I also provide leadership at HQ Toronto, a high-volume health clinic serving patient populations at risk of HIV. My responsibilities at HQ Toronto include:• Overseeing the operational delivery of health services at HQ Toronto, ensuring compliance with financial and operational standards.• Leading the development of HQ’s annual program plan, HR policy handbook, and relevant operational procedures.• Providing on-site organizational leadership, including oversight of HR and facilities maintenance.• Managing the administration of medical trainees who complete placements at HQ.• Supporting the HQ Board of Governors and relevant committees.

Key accomplishments include:-Collaborating on establishing the organization’s novel co-leadership structure with co-Directors and Board of Governors.-Playing a key role in developing the agency’s 5-year strategic plan and process for annual operating planning (AOP).-Developing tools that enhance agency-wide operations, including: an agency-wide evaluation; interactive budget dashboards; and decision-making aids. -Overseeing HIM’s participation in external research projects and creating internal learning systems (i.e., developing processes to standardize generation and collaborative utilization of internal data.)-Spearheading quality improvement initiatives to HIM’s clinical services to reduce client turnaways by over 50%.-Leading HIM’s provincial mpox (monkeypox) outbreak response in collaboration with all five of BC’s jurisdictional health authorities.-Directing HIM’s health promotion strategies and linking them to evidence-based HIV combination prevention.

Key accomplishments include: -Expanding my portfolio from two FTE to five FTE and 2 0.5 FTE: developing and managing staff work plans; developing procedures; performance management; facilitating team synergy; and conflict resolution.-Spearheading HIM's provincial expansion into three distinct regions across BC: overseeing the implementation of an expansion strategy; multi-level stakeholder engagement and partnership building; creating the organization's first remote work policies.-Charting knowledge translation strategies through projects: health interventions, social marketing campaigns, resources, digital tools, and health service provider education. -Overseeing HIM’s research portfolio: evaluating partnership opportunities; linking research findings to agency-wide programming; and recommending operational changes based on relevant research data.-Managing an annual budget of over $300,000: developing and implementing cost-effective strategies; researching suppliers; reviewing and approving invoices; liaising with funders; and submitting budget forecasts and progress reports.-Communicating HIM's work to the public. This work involves: presenting at national conferences; speaking to press (television, radio, and print); and engaging decision makers at local, provincial, and national levels.-Managing contribution agreements and securing funding through grant proposals and sponsorship requests. -Playing a key role in the conceptualization and implementation of HIM’s five-year strategic plan: chairing and steering a staff working group dedicated to operationalizing said plan.-Informing and advocating for GBT2Q needs to policy- and decision-makers: engagement with decision makers at government health agencies; and participating in policy reform initiatives that increase GBT2Q’s access to health services.-Contributing to the creation of inter-organizational collaboration frameworks: governing structures, evaluations, and work plans.
