Played semi-professionally alongside my full time studies at college and university, as well as most recently alongside my full time job as a process engineer. This enabled me to be financially self-sufficient throughout my time at university. Due to the time commitment associated with training, travelling and games, I have developed strong time management and organisational skills which enabled me to achieve very good grades throughout college and university.Have been an integral part of a very successful team that has been built around strong work ethic and togetherness. We won promotion to the Conference National back in 2014 and we held our own in a league predominantly made up of professional (full-time) teams. As part of this team I have had to demonstrate strong teamwork, communication and leadership skills.After experiencing a couple of difficult years with back to back relegation's we managed to turn it around under new management by achieving promotion back to the national league north. In our first season back in the national league north we reached the play off semi finals. These years of ups and downs gave me the contrasting experiences of working in both successful and unsuccessful teams and all the team dynamics associated with that.

During the BP Summer Intern Programme I investigated the interaction between combustion gases and an iron surface through molecular simulations in order to gain some insight into the triggers of carbon deposition in combustion engines.Experimented with a relatively new approach to modelling this specific type of system, using a force field called ReaxFF in combination with LAMMPS- a MD simulation software program. One of the main purposes of the project was to assess the effectiveness of this approach in modelling this type of system.Created initial configurations for the molecular simulations using the computer programming languages Fortran and Python and then adjusted the layout of these configurations to make them compatible with ReaxFF. These configurations were then processed through LAMMPS in order to run the molecular simulations. An analysis program was set up using Fortran in order to analyse each simulation. The results of the analysis were then interpreted to asses the effectiveness of ReaxFF.This project really tested my ability to adapt to a completely new environment in order to grasp new concepts/theory/skills very quickly. I had no prior experience using the programming languages, software and operating system that were used in this project. Delivered a presentation to a group of senior BP employees at the Castrol Technology in Pangbourne, Berkshire. The group were very complimentary of my presentation and seemed to be very interested in my findings. One of the employees was so impressed he requested my work so that he could use it with his own research.
