Christel Simons (1968) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. In 1991 she graduated from the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema & Sound (RITCS, Brussels) with a master degree in drama-directing. In 2012 she graduated from Thomas More (Mechelen) with a bachelor degree in intercultural management. She added in 2019 MBA fundamentals (EHSAL Brussels) and in 2022 a postgraduate China/ EU Cultural Curatorship Studies (Antwerp University).Starting her career at Kaaitheater (1992-1993), she quickly became managing director of Needcompany, the international theatre company of Jan Lauwers (1993-2012).Since 2012 she works as administrative director and project manager for European funded projects at Q-O2, a workspace for contemporary music. From 2023 this concerns the Creative Europe project 'tekhné', aiming to explore the emancipatory potential of technology in music and sound art.As a part-time independent she is consulted by (performing) arts companies for human resources, international relations, project development and new financing possibilities. Her latest experiences in this include being the ad interim managing director for a season at Mu.ZEE, Ostend, and being financial manager of Miet Warlop, a Belgian performance artist.She is president of the international dance company Peeping Tom.
