Built Yelp’s first formal Design Team, growing overall team to 40 Product Designers, User Experience Researchers, and Design Managers. Design and research are now more integral to Product development and having a larger impact on the roadmap & quality of work.Helped kickoff and lead cross-functional efforts to redesign both consumer and business products through a series of design sprints, workshops, & vision work.Formed dedicated team to support redesigns and work on launching a robust design system.

Joined Zendrive in 2014 as the first member of the leadership team. Lead design for all product UX, marketing and communications, physical space and overall company brand. In addition I also helped grow company culture and values, contributed to successful fundraising, and key business development efforts. Projects included 3 core platform updates, 3 new product launches, countless prototypes, a long list of partner pitches, 2 major website & collateral updates, major brand refresh, key quarterly product sprints, and 2 new office spaces.We grew the company grew to 50, raised $15M & hit 10B miles tracked.

Managed the team of 20 that had a unique range of design skills ranging from software, physical interaction, motion, visual and research. The team was not just responsible for shaping the current and future digital and physical interaction on Glass, but also the extended digital experience. This include the marketing website, first time user on boarding, mobile and web apps, improving user engagement, design guidelines for developers, and working closely with industrial design and marketing teams on brand. Glass may have been a little ahead of its time, but the learnings around designing and building a very intimate device were profound.

Over the 5+ years that I lead the team, monthly active users grew 10x and revenue went from $100m to $1B.Google Apps fundamentally changed how people communicate and collaborate by shifting how knowledge workers got their jobs done. Content shifted from deep, hidden silo's to a shared, collaborative workspace. I built a team of 70+ interaction designers, user researchers, visual designers and prototypers. We worked across 7 timezones on more than 20 products including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Hangouts, Google@work, Photos, and Blogger.Product design work included: researching & prioritizing needs, staying ahead of continuous product updates, leading cross product improvements (e.g. a11y, i18n, offline mode, shared components), deeper thinking about product roadmap which involved creating “north stars”, and kicking off new product initiatives.The most impactful cross product effort was in 2011 when Larry Page took over as CEO and directed a company wide upgrade to fix overdue design debt and give the Design team a foot hold to more thoughtful, strategic, user led design innovation. I led the Apps Team effort & was part of the cross Google coordinating team to help build consistent design themes, patterns and brand voice. My team launched several complex updates in record time helping changing the role of Design at Google forever. Its a good story!

I cofounded an early innovative startup that combined design agency, custom software development, and venture acceleration into one company. Known for building complex web applications and award winning creative. Company grew to 130 staff with $20M annual revenue, clients included a mix of Fortune-500s and start-ups. Sold to Liquid Thinking in 2001.
