My interests and expertise are in strategy, operations, social entrepreneurship, and rural revitalization. Strategy and operations: I've initiated and launched national campaigns, led teams of 4-15, developed internal systems and strategic "refreshes," and helped raise more than $25M USD for my current organization. For the last 10 years, I've fully raised and managed my annual $1-2M USD budget. Social entrepreneurship: I have personally assessed the work of more than 500 leading, systems-changing social entrepreneurs across the world and have helped grant more than $10M to early-stage social entrepreneurs in Africa and the United States. I've written about various trends and opportunities in the field for Forbes.com, the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Fast Company, the Christian Science Monitor, and more. Rural revitalization: I have spent more than 1,500 hours working directly inside community-based organizations in Africa, Asia, and North America. I helped lead a 5-year $15M campaign to identify and support the top 100 social entrepreneurs working in the area of 'rural innovation and farming' around the world and, since 2015, a refresh of Ashoka US's work focused on supporting change makers across "All America," representing all geographic and culture groups. I'm currently based in Viroqua, Wisconsin where I am constantly learning from and inspired by local innovations and institutions.
