Specialkonsulent
Assistant Professor
12-months InnoExplorer project awarded by Innovation Fund Denmark for developing our STAF technology. The goal of the project is to demonstrate that the price of the technology can be reduced by optimization.
Assistant Professor
I was involved in a joint 3-year project between SDU and Aarhus University which attempted to modify our technology for inhibiting ammonia emissions from livestock manure to also reduce emissions of greenhouse gasses. Project leader was professor WSR Henrik Karring. The project was funded by the Danish Agricultural Agency.
Postdoctoral Researcher
My primary responsibility was to carry out research relevant to a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) project funded by the University of Southern Denmark. The purpose of the project was to improve our patent application and the commercial potential of our invention.
Research Assistant
My primary responsibility was to assist in the patenting process as well as preparing a Proof-of-Concept application for said patent.
Postdoctoral Researcher
2-year postdoc position in identification and development of novel strategies to reduce formation of ammonia in animal manure at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Environmental Technology. The postdoc project is part of a larger project entitled “Next Generation Manure Ammonia Reduction Technology (ManUREA Technology)” funded by ”Grønt Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram (GUDP) under Fødevareministeriet (The Ministry of Environment and Food)” (http://naturerhverv.dk/tvaergaaende/gudp/gudp-projekter/2015/ny-teknologi-skal-reducere-ammoniakfordampning-fra-gylle/). The overall aim of the ManUREA Technology project is to identify and develop a novel and cost-effective strategy which will further reduce the total NH3 emission from pig manure slurry compared to acidified manure slurry. The initial 2-year position has been extended another year (to Feb. 2019).Main accomplishments:- Analyzed the content of Ni, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn in livestock waste and feed using graphite-furnace and flame atomic absorption spectroscopy- Developed a medium-to-high throughput bacterial/enzymatic assay for screening urease inhibitors- Screened 85 compounds and characterized them according to anti-ureolytic effect on bacteria and enzyme- Presented our results at the 2017 American Society for Microbiology Conference, New Orleans, USA
Phd Student In Coordination Chemistry, Biochemistry And Mass Spectrometry
My thesis was entitled "Metal Tags for Proteomics" was defended on the 10th of April. It's an interdisciplinary project combining synthetic inorganic chemistry with mass spectrometry techniques such as nESI-MS. Additionally I have gained some experience in teaching after being assigned to several lab courses and tutorial classes. A number of articles, based on the research done during the PhD, have been published in peer-reviewed journals.Skills: Synthesis of metal complexes, organic synthesis, inorganic synthesis, ESI mass spectrometry (off-line), IR, NMR, scientific writing, teaching, isothermal titration calorimetry, ion-molecule reactions, UV-vis spectroscopy.Knowledge of: protein purification, microwave reactor synthesis and solid state synthesis.
Inorganic Chemist
I was involved in a (unpaid) project in which I had to synthesise inorganic complexes of Mo and S. Of particular interest was the compound [Mo2S8]2- with Mo(V). During the project I went to Brookhaven National Lab. outside New York to do XAFS measurements on the samples.
Student Assistant
I was employed as a student assistant to Prof. Christine McKenzie at SDU, Odense. My work was to help finish up an article based on my Thesis work while looking for funding for a Ph.D.
Guest Researcher With Focus On Ion-Molecule Reactions In The Gas Phase
I was working on the gas phase synthesis and reactivity of high valent metal oxo compounds (particularly Fe an Cu).
Student Assistant
I assisted professor Christine Mckenzie and post. doc. Allan Poulsen with practical labwork for the scienceshow NANO.
Tutor
I introduced new students to the university and got them safely through the first couple of months.
Portør/Orderly
Typical assignments: Transport of patients, food delivery, waste transport, assisting at various patient-related work, transport of goods and much more. This position required very good people-skills.
