At ILRI, I provide leadership in the management of the Policies, Institutions and Livelihoods (PIL) Program to ensure its goals and objectives are attained. I support the Program Leader in managing the program, by:• Supporting the development of the program strategy• Supporting the development and monitoring of the program multi-year operational plan• Monitoring and collating program outputs and outcomes• Developing and monitoring multi-year program and project budgets; suggesting corrective action when needed; and liaising with Finance on budget and financial matters• Ensuring the deployment of the ILRI’s Program Management Framework (PMF) within the program• Leading the program management and program administrative team and build their capacity on the ILRI PMF to enhance their performance• Determining program staffing needs, review staff and consultants recruitment request as well as handle HR matters in liaison with the HR unit• For all projects within the program, coordinating proposal development, project planning, project execution, monitoring & control, project closure; and all other project management activities.• Contributing to the institute-wide PMF as a Process Owner for the ILRI Strategy and Program Management Process.

At ILRI, I support several research projects (the science) under the Livelihoods, Gender and Impact (LGI) Program. I offer project and program management support to the Program Leader and various Project Investigators (Project Leaders) in the program. I lead LGI's program support unit which consists of myself, communications specialist, program accountant, administrative assistant and office assistant.In addition, I am part of a team of experts that is developing an ERP for the Institute specifically handling the research management module. I also contribute to the institute-wide project management framework and was appointed as a Process Owner for the ILRI Strategy and Program Management Process. I was also elected by my colleagues as the Chair of the ILRI Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) Council which exists to establish and foster continuing and positive interaction between the ILRI NRS and management on all matters pertaining to the welfare of ILRI NRS and to contribute to the successful pursuit of the ILRI mission.Summary of my roles include:1. I worked in the Global Fund Program with CARE International where I oversaw 9 national and international sub-recipients of the Civil Society component of the Global Fund Round 7 Program in Kenya. My main roles included partner grant initiation & coordination; ensure partner contract compliance, budget management & tracking; grant management, control & reporting; partnership strengthening, technical assistance, lessons learned and knowledge sharing.My roles in summary included:1. Sub recipients grants coordination and contract compliance enforcement and coordination2. Budget management and support3. Program grants monitoring, evaluation and reporting4. I worked with Childfund International where I supported 4 community based organizations with the implementation of several child support projects. The community based organizations I supported include Emali Dedicated Project, Mbirikani, Naretoi and Kuku Plains. I was in charge of the Kilimanjaro Area finance and administration function. I supervised several area and CBO staff both directly and indirectly.My specific roles included:1. Processing payments2. Preparing financial reports and bank reconciliations3.
