My family are all from an agricultural background I decided to be different and went away to sea straight after school. Mainly to travel and to visit far flung places I’d only read about. I was a little disappointed when I spent my first 3-month trip on a costal tanker in the North Sea in the middle of winter!I didn't realise at the time but my 3 years of service with Coe Metcalf Shipping of Liverpool gave me an invaluable experience into the workings of dry cargo and tanker vessels, seamanship and living and working on ships in general. This was a starting block for my next 20 years at sea.I would like to highlight the following:• Extensive experience gained within the Merchant Navy working on tankers, dredgers, ferries, dry cargo and passenger ships. In the past 12 years I have been working offshore as Bosun on-board a 6th generation drill ship and more recently a Deck Foreman with Bluewater Services Ltd• I have a thorough understanding of all seamanship practices• I take pride in contributing to a positive safety culture, maintaining and ensuring high standards of Health & Safety procedures and that current regulations are adhered to• I am able to manage, motivate and train teams, carry out Risk Assessments, Lift Plans and Tool Box Talks
