Design and Engineering Consultant carrying out CAD, CAE - including Stress Analysis (Finite Element Analysis / FEA), Mould Filling Analysis.Providing design and development advice, engineering calculations, problem solving and troubleshooting services to designers, manufacturers and end user across all industries.Developing parts from concept through to prototyping and production.Optimising existing products for cost, ease of production and performance.

Leading a team of engineers in providing a range of specialist design and development support for a broad range of polymer products, steel castings and fabricated structures.Polymer design support for injection moulding, rotational moulding, cast parts, blow mouldings, extrusions, polymer films including polymer flow anlaysis and troubleshooting of injection moulded parts.Design and development of automotive components, rail bogie frames, rail vehicle coupling systems, track systems for armoured vehicles, material handling products, ATM money protection systems, rotational moulded, cast and injection moulded parts through to multi-laminate polymer films.A full range of calculations, from initial assessments using hand calculations through to carrying out both linear and non-linear Finite Element Analyses (FEA). CAD and Finite Element Modelling using SDRC I-Deas as a pre-processor and running analyses using ABAQUS (Standard), ABAQUS (Explicit) and Model Solution to solve a number of proof and fatigue load, including weld assessment of fabricated structures.Providing training and tutoring in CAD and CAE to less experienced engineers at the company and guiding them through their involvement in client projects. I was also the mentor to a number of M.Sc students. These either came to the company for placement or were students with whom we had helped find final year projects with some of our clients.Over a four year period, providing a two week module on Finite Element Analysis Methods to students on the M.Sc course of Advanced Manufacturing Systems at the University of Teesside. My responsibilities included providing the hands-on tutorials, developing and presenting the necessary tutorial material and providing practical guidance and help to students from a mixed educational background.
