• Managed a primary team of 5 software engineers and co-managed 2 engineers on a sister team when it lacked an EM. Partnered with Product to design engineering roadmaps for two teams, assigned feature leads, and delivered successful product and technical launches. • Oversaw and developed eight direct reports through creation of individualized career growth plans, achieving promotions for five reports. • Delivered new growth initiatives including launch of a new leasing model, new $0 checkout process for bike seat replacement kit (affecting up to 1M customers), and price increases of product offerings to adjust for inflation. • Led team through top-secret, high-priority product recall project requiring new check-out experience in tight four-week timeline. Oversaw project scope, risk mitigation, and solutions while coordinating with stakeholders, feature lead, Legal team, and C-suite.• Served as Engineering Manager for Leasing project, which offered price-sensitive customers access to Peloton products in a two-phase launch in the US and Canada and directed the creation of a playbook for future international markets (ex. • Led product software team of four engineers (responsibilities included roadmap building, resource management, scrum master, and leadership) while engaging in individual contributor development work. • Developed and maintained Kotlin-based catalog microservice with GraphQL endpoints to support e-commerce purchasing experience. Migrated existing React frontend to use new GraphQL endpoints over legacy REST endpoints for add-to-cart and product/bundle selection workflows. • Enabled doubling of connected fitness units offered by Peloton by launching new Bike+ product for sale and new Tread product’s marketing page; launch required developing software across the stack while maintaining product secrecy and engaging with multiple teams and code touchpoints.• Proposed new architecture to manage product translation copy and measurements across US, CA, UK, and DE sites.• Developed frontend experience for shoppers to determine order-to-delivery (OTD) times.• Architected and implemented new “availability states” architecture to simplify and centralize logic for making items available in different locales and allow consistent experiences, thereby allowing new product launches in new markets in a fraction of the time. • Provided various updates and improvements, including increasing accessibility of www.onepeloton.com/shop/* site by solving issues uncovered by digital accessibility consultants and improving performance of CMS pages from 45 seconds to 2 seconds. • Led Change Management working group to determine best practices for SOX compliance and change management while remaining in compliance with regulations for financial reporting as a public company.

• Architected and implemented features to improve e-commerce outcomes, including implementing Strong Customer Authentication for payments to comply with GDPR regulations in the EU, new Salesforce client features to support commercial clients, renewal flow for yearly subscriptions, merchant processing fee analytics for multiple payment providers (Adyen, Stripe, Klarna, Affirm, etc.), and creating new payment libraries that integrate with local payment providers in new markets.• Optimized latency of add-to-cart endpoints by identifying 3 performance bottlenecks and implementing fixes to them, reducing latency during our highest holiday loads from 12.2 seconds to ~1.2 seconds (~10x speed improvement), greatly improving customer experience during December 2019.• Represented my team for cross-team initiatives, including the SOX Compliance working group, Interview Process Improvement working group, a Scalability initiative, and a Migration to K8s initiative.• Spearheaded the first Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May 2019, resulting in 7 events with average event attendance of 50-200 attendees.• Co-founded the Asian ERG (ACE) at Peloton.

• Designed, implemented, and owned Python server applications to support social email campaigns, fitness statistics, Year in Review statistics, instructor page redesigns, Facebook follower integrations, image brightening scripts, and several other features.• Proposed, explained, and implemented a system for users to perform actions on our platform without logging in based on keyed-hash message authentication codes (HMACs).• Optimized the performance of highly-used endpoints by identifying bottlenecks, determining whether they were CPU- or I/O-bound, and using database request batching, caching, memoization of expensive computations, and other techniques to improve performance.• Extended, modified, and migrated several parts of our Object Relational Model (models, OneToMany, and ManyToMany relationships) to be stored on PostgreSQL or Redis to optimize performance and memory efficiency.• Revamped backend permissions system so that studio teams in different studios had studio-specific permissions to modify content.• Technologies used include Python, Postgres, Redis, Cassandra, Redshift, Memcache, Liquibase, Amazon S3.• Improved our engineering team processes by innovating new processes (e.g. “grooming pods”) that maximize knowledge sharing and sprint planning accuracy while also reducing total number of meetings, by proposing sprint-in-review retrospectives and email updates to improve transparency of where engineering effort was spent each sprint, and by raising edge cases, user expectations, and concerns proactively for proposed new features and infrastructure changes.
