• Responsible for ensuring the excellence, financial viability and impact of CARE Canada’s global program portfolio (a 55-person team) and the humanitarian response capacity of CARE Canada, through oversight and management of the strategic vision, leadership, and CARE Canada’s program portfolio , in-line CARE Canada Strategic Plan.• Responsible for the line management of CARE’s presence in Cuba and management of the Country Director for CARE Cuba. Responsible for the CARE Canada hosted Rapid Response Team, a deployable humanitarian that supports the entire Confederation.

• Responsible for day-to-day management of CARE Canada program portfolio (45 people & 50M program) ensuring compliance with programmatic and financial objectives, ensuring consistently high program quality and measurable impact, with clear links and integration between impact areas.

• Led on government relationship and policy engagement with Global Affairs Canada.• Provided significant guidance and advice to CEO and VPs on strategic positioning, government relationships and policy. Briefed senior management on critical issues related to international development and humanitarian response.• Managed and provided oversight and guidance to Senior Gender; Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability & Learning; and Policy and Influence Advisors.

• Led on Gender in Emergencies work (GiE). Member of Global Gender in Emergencies Team and lead on policy and gender budgeting initiatives. With fellow CARE gender advisers, innovated, piloted and test new gender equality programming, particularly relating to fragile or complex operational environments. Provided significant technical advice on GiE; trained new staff.• Led development of high-quality concept papers and proposals in collaboration with Country Offices and Program Team for both unsolicited proposals and competitive bids, including submission to key donors in humanitarian and fragile states. Led on CARE's relationship with UNHCR.

• Managed CARE Canada’s Global Affairs Canada (GAC) humanitarian funding and UN Programs (worth approximately $25-30M per year) to ensure program quality, successful implementation and impact of CARE’s humanitarian programs. Our portfolio included projects in Middle East, West Africa and East Africa and Asia. Program sectors included: sexual and reproductive health in emergencies, gender specific programming and gender-based violence.• Developed concept notes, proposals and oversaw the implementation and financial management of emergency projects. I led the development of over 100 proposals and under my leadership, we increased our portfolio by over 60%.

• Led on the West Bank and Gaza file which includes developing and identifying projects in security sector reform and providing input into briefing notes and presentations for Senior management on the future of Canadian programming. • Member of the Iraq team, which included: developing, identifying and managing projects on sexual and gender-based violence; producing and providing input into briefing notes, speeches, and high-level messaging on Canada’s support to preventing SGBV in Iraq.

• Led on the Protection Portfolio which included: monitoring and reporting on the Protection Cluster; working with UNFPA & UNHCR to review, modify and finalize their project proposals; reviewing other UN project proposals to ensure Protection & gender concerns are integrated; and providing updates on key protection issues.• Supported the Deputy Team Lead on Programming issues, which included: negotiating reporting requirements with partners and supporting DFID HQ on the MOU processes.

• DFID secondee to UNHCR tasked with establishing, developing and improving reporting systems within UNHCR Ethiopia.• The focal point on multi-year funding provided by DFID, which included reporting internally, and externally on the status of DFID funding (midterm report), identifying and highlighting potential issues and providing recommendations to Senior Management.

• Provided input and or drafted a variety of information products such as situation reports, e-grams, oral questions and briefing notes.• Led on the overall results portion of the Humanitarian response for both Somalia and Kenya. Designed and implemented a real-time results reporting matrix for DFID partners.• Advised DFID and other departments on appropriate and accurate humanitarian information to include in submissions, replies to Parliamentary Questions, speeches, Ministerial Briefs, and letters from the public.

• Produced weekly situation reports providing analysis on the current situation, trends and gaps in the humanitarian response. The situation reports were read by multiple Government departments in the UK, including Prime Minister’s Office.• Advised DFID and other departments on appropriate and accurate humanitarian information to include in submissions, replies to Parliamentary Questions, speeches, Ministerial Briefs, and letters from the public.• Represented DFID at meetings with Government of Pakistan officials, NGOs and other key stakeholders

• Managed multiple portfolios on the Pakistan Program: women’s economic empowerment and governance projects in Pakistan (April 2012 to February 2013), Health (Polio & health systems strengthening) and Women’s economic empowerment portfolio (January 2009 – September 2010), and gender equality portfolio, including WEE projects (2007-2008).• Responsible for the day-to-day project management of the portfolio which included managing budgets, contracts, monitoring projects, reviewing proposals and developing projects. Responsible for developing and providing input on briefs, information memos and communications products.
