Teaching in all year groups in primary school has been an incredible journey for me. It's given me the opportunity to work with students of different ages and witness their growth and development firsthand.In Key Stage 1, I had the pleasure of working with student usually between the ages of 5 and 7. It was such a magical time as they were just starting their educational journey. I focused on building a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy skills. We would explore the world of phonics, helping them master the sounds of letters and blend them together to read and write. Maths lessons involved lots of hands-on activities, using manipulatives and games to develop their understanding of numbers, shapes, and basic operations. We also had fun with creative projects, like storytelling and art, to nurture their imagination and self-expression. I had the chance to dive deeper into subjects like English, Maths, and Science.Moving on to Key Stage 2, I had the privilege of teaching slightly older children, typically between 7 and 11 years old. This stage was all about building upon the foundations laid in Key Stage 1 and delving deeper into subjects like English, Maths, and Science. In English, we focused on expanding their vocabulary, honing their writing skills, and exploring different genres of literature. Maths lessons became more complex, covering topics like fractions, decimals, and problem-solving strategies. Science lessons were a blast, conducting experiments and investigations to foster their curiosity and understanding of the natural world. Throughout both Key Stages, I always aimed to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. I encouraged collaboration and teamwork, allowing students to learn from each other and develop social skills. It was incredibly rewarding to see their growth, both academically and personally, as they gained confidence and a love for learning.

As a supply teacher in a primary school, I am fulfilling the absent teacher’s roles and responsibilities. I deliver pre-prepared lessons and maintain continuity of learning for the students. I am educating children on all subjects. As I am working in different schools I regularly adapt to different schools, teaching methods and age groups. I differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of the students. This involves leading lessons using presentations, textbooks and learning materials. I encourage student engagement and participation by providing them with authentic, specific, and frequent feedback and remove any unnecessary barriers by understanding individual needs. I also carry out as many duties of the regular teacher as much as possible i.e., covering form classes, attending school assemblies, enforcing school rules I am passionate and progressive in the classroom, and I constantly seek to teach in a manner which is creative and innovative. As well as ensuring I establish classroom rules, routines, and expectations that are consistent with those of the regular teacher. I consistently collaborate with other teachers and staff members and support the use of support staff relevant to the class. I supervise students within schools including the playground, lunch halls and other halls areas. In the past, I have supervised students on field trips and cultural outings. I also like to go the extra mile by helping at parents’ evenings and exam invigilation. Additionally, I fulfill the role of providing emotional support and guidance to students who may be experiencing personal or academic difficulties, and to seek help from the regular teacher or the school administration if necessary.

My roles and responsibilities are to accept assignments from the agency and work in different schools as required. I am working with a wide range of age groups, from early years through to year 6. I am responsible for teaching a variety of different subjects including English, Maths, Science, history, and art etc. When teaching my overall role is to contribute to the provision of a safe, secure learning environment whilst implementing disciplinary measures. I am responsible for maintaining discipline in the assigned classroom, I effectively resolve possible conflicts that may occur between students to maintain the sense of order in the classroom. I follow the school’s behaviour policy, so the students are aware of the rules and the consequences of their behaviour which in turn promotes positive behaviour.

As a trainee teacher I fulfilled several roles and responsibilities. The first and foremost responsibility was to support the class teacher in the care and education of the children. This included preparing lesson plans, delivering instructional sessions, and then aiding students who need additional help. As a SEN teaching assistant, I provided support to children and young adults with special educational needs and disabilities. My responsibilities included working alongside the class teacher to ensure that the learning environment accommodates the needs of children with the learning needs or difficulties, preparing teaching materials, adapting the curriculum and assessment tools, providing one-to-one assistance for pupils, and helping them to monitor their progress. I kept accurate records of student progress and reported this information to the class teacher and other professionals as required. I maintained confidentiality and respect for the privacy of the students and their families. I worked both independently, and as part of a team, and took on a variety of different tasks. I worked with students with students with behavioural or emotional difficulties and helped them to manage their emotions and behaviour. As SEN teaching assistant I was able to work under high pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.I supervised students in class and during break and lunch. I collaborated with teachers and parents, I worked closely to develop individualised education plans (IEPs). I tracked student progress and reported back to teachers on their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for development. I helped administer assessments and identified areas that required further support. Most importantly, I ensured that a safe and supportive classroom environment was created for all students. I regularly helped with behavioural management, conflict resolution and other duties assigned by the teacher. I taught a wide range of age groups, from primary through to college.

As a mentor working with children who have chronic and life-threatening illnesses, my role involved developing an action plan to help them achieve their targets and goals. This included setting short-term goals with timed deadlines and monitoring progress through various methods. To ensure the best possible outcome for the children, I interacted with them whilst working alongside their parents, guardians, and care workers. I arranged meetings with the mentee to discuss progress and limitations to instil the confidence needed to overcome barriers and hurdles. Following and adhering to safeguarding guidelines is paramount in this role, which involved providing support and guidance to vulnerable children in a safe and secure environment.
