Spruce Budworm Ecology Research Assistant
CurrentAssist technician/scientist with Spruce Budworm laboratory experiments to test spruce budworm developmental times at different temperatures on our laboratory colony and for sample populations collected across Canada. This will require operating growth chambers, learning and following a Standard Operating Procedure on a daily basis to complete the requirements of the experiment, including completing time sensitive tasks using lab equipment, handling insects, handling branches from outside, and recording data on paper and computer.Assist with day-to-day operation of the laboratory including maintaining equipment and ordering supplies.Assist scientist with the creation of a database of spruce budworm phenology historical data by collecting and compiling bibliography references and datasets that include data on spruce budworm development.Various computer/data entry work within their comfort and skill level.Greeting customers at front counter, answering questions and inputting specialty coffee orders into POS system.Preparing numerous varieties of hot and iced drinks with high accuracy and consistently strong customer satisfaction.Addressing and resolving customer concerns to maintain brand loyalty.Merchandising display cases and promoting prepared foods.Training new employees in operational procedures and modeling duties for front and back house positions.Supporting highest standards of conduct and service to support company reputation
