There was never a dull moment at The JNC. From co-creation and delivery of the marketing and communications strategy, management and growth of a volunteer and service training program (VAST) for the Aged and Disability sector, to exploring social enterprise opportunities, I was committed to the achievement of outcomes and, ultimately, supporting the customers and communities we worked with. For many years while I managed the VAST Volunteer & Training Services team, I also delivered training workshops to diverse stakeholders from volunteers, support staff and management of councils including City of Sydney. I led a small team to cultivate ideas and opportunities, then research two promising social enterprise opportunities with a view to development and implementation. The primary aim was to offer niche services to the broader NFP sector via “VAST” (Volunteer and Training Services). My team’s knowledge of sector support training and volunteer recruitment and referral was considerable and our aim was to expand our services and sales.I was responsible for the business development of VAST that provided sector support for the Aged and Disability sector. I succeeded in the growth of “business to business” engagement and sales. This was made evident by an increase in sales, training attendances and more notably, attendance by new audiences at VAST Training.
