About Sinara Sagn

People possess diverse passions, goals, and paths in life regardless of their age, gender, background, education, experience, cultural heritage, or family traditions. I am Nara, the daughter of immigrant parents who relocated to America in 2007. I am profoundly grateful for my parents' sacrifices and determination, which granted my siblings and me access to invaluable resources such as education, freedom, and opportunities. While in Long Beach, California, I played a pivotal role in establishing the United Cambodian Community's (UCC) Women's Small Business Development Center, the first Cambodian-specific business center in California. I extend my utmost gratitude to my direct supervisor, Susana, for mentoring and supporting me with the necessary skills and resources to serve the business community in Long Beach. Additionally, I sincerely appreciate Mrs. and Mr. Hopson's mentorship, where I learned about the Khmer culture, tradition, and compassion toward the Cambodian community. In addition to my involvement with UCC, I had the privilege of joining Mrs. Ung in establishing a nonprofit organization called California Sister States. This endeavor provided numerous opportunities to visit Cambodia and reconnect with my homeland. With Mrs. Ung's mentorship and unwavering support, I gained new skill sets in business and youth development to better support the youth and businesses in Cambodia and Long Beach. Through my visits to Cambodia, I realized that my skill sets, experiences, and education could significantly impact the Cambodian community more than in the US. Furthermore, I aspire to create a home where my parents can find solace and reconnect with their family and friends rather than living alone in the US.What do I believe in? Drawing from my experience in community development through a business lens, I firmly believe that investing in women and youth is the greatest investment one can make. By providing women with access to resources, they can make informed decisions for themselves, their children, their families, and their communities. Similarly, by mentoring and guiding youth, we empower them to identify their goals, understand their identities, and bring pride to their families and communities through their work.
