Designed, launched, and grew a residential real estate mobile app to educate first time home buyers.Contributed to a 4-month long design research project, including conducting and synthesizing contextual interviews, leading cross-functional brainstorming exercises, and designing low fidelity concepts, storyboards, and prototypes. Ultimately drove the core product and business strategy for the entire division.Defined and implemented a modern UX process within two scrum teams in order to increase team efficiency. Increased designer involvement with product and business, and led new interactions with development. Facilitated, organized, and led the creation of a uniform style-guide (design) and UI toolkit (engineering), first within the team, and then across multiple business units.Co-led product and design strategy for our suite of tools to support real estate agents. Conceptualized and tested a unique tool for real estate agents and their consumers to collaborate, providing value on both sides of the transaction.

Research & Product Design Lead: NextGen Go iPad AppLed a team of 4 designers and 4 developers to create an iPad app for NextGen. Conducted ethnographic studies of clinician offices across the country (ask me about colonoscopies). Coded and analyzed findings; created user stories, conceptual models, workflows, and personas to communicate findings and drive design. Designed low and hi-fidelity prototypes to evaluate designs and communicate with clients, internal stakeholders, sales, marketing, and the development team. Iteratively prototyped, tested, and conducted further research with clients. Presented early prototypes (Invision) to C-suite and chairman of the board, high-fidelity prototype (Keynote) on stage to national sales team (300 people), and app prototype on stage at a conference (5000 people). Managed day-to-day: demoed on sales calls, conducted training sessions, led team standups and guided development.Product Design Lead: Mirth ZestLed design research, design strategy, interaction design, and visual design for the Mirth Zest Platform, a new design language, brand, and UX team structure. Designed core framework with initial development team. Implemented a matrix organization structure for the UX team to expose each development team to the design language and collaborate with the teams building Zestful products. Designed and tested low and high-fidelity prototypes.User Research Lead: NG7 EHRConducted and organized a usability study on our flagship product. Designed and developed the study protocol. Worked with the existing management, design, and development teams to isolate testable features and create plausible testing scenarios. Transcribed, coded, and analyzed findings. Presented findings to CTO, management, development, and design teams. Created a highlights reel and findings document to distribute internally.

I designed and implemented metaViz (http://metaviz.ics.uci.edu), an online collaborative information visualization that uses computational metaphor identification with the goal of fostering critical thinking and creativity. Work began with domain research. I created an interview protocol and conducted 11 interviews throughout the project. Prototypes started on paper, then moved to flash and java, and the final implementation was created on the web (HTML, jQuery, PHP, MySQL). I presented weekly iterations to a team 10 colleagues. The work resulted in two conference publications, including a presentation at ACM SIGCHI, Atlanta 2010.
