Luddy ALIGN - Applied + Leadership + Industry + Government + NetworkingThe Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering utilizes applied learning to solve real-world problems. Whether it’s student startup development or university-supported research projects, the focus is on students taking what they learn in the classroom and using it to serve society. In the Luddy School, ALIGN provides three key functions to facilitate students’ personal and professional development: - Client Engagement - Client Matching - Student PreparationThe Luddy School hosts an array of centers and programs which support the ALIGN mission of facilitating practical, applied projects which drive value for clients while producing socially adept technical professionals, which include:Shoemaker Innovation Center / Shoebox - a university-wide, student-focused center that supports innovation and entrepreneurship and hosts regular talks by experienced technology innovators and entrepreneurs. The Shoebox is a student startup incubator which houses 30 startup teams comprised of students from across campus.Serve IT / Teach IT - Serve IT’s mission is to apply the technology skills of undergraduate students to help the local nonprofit community better serve their own missions, while Teach IT’s mission is to develop the professional skills of undergraduate students by supporting the technological confidence of community members, young and old.Luddy Artificial Intelligence Development and Experience Lab (LAIDEL) - a research practicum and internship experience for Luddy graduate students that guides participants to develop new AI applications or apply existing AI technology to new problems.Faculty Assistance in Data Science (FADS) - provides access to expertise and assistance in advanced data analytics, visualization, and development for the purpose of catalyzing faculty research.

Project Logistics, Planning, and Coordination - Determine and assure necessary space, equipment, labor, and other resources for assigned evaluation projects. Manage major activities for assigned projects such as production and mailing of mass surveys. Plan and manage events related to projects such as training sessions and on-site data collection efforts. Plan and assist with travel arrangements for proctors, site visitors and others related to assigned projects. Develops and designs timelines and methodologies appropriate for each evaluation or research project.Data Collection Technology - Survey layout, production. Phone interview technical preparations with special software.Project management - Organize and manage projects, work both independently and collaboratively with others.Materials Production (proposals, surveys, reports, presentation slides. etc) - Layout, editing and proofing, production, and dissemination. Set up and use Word, Excel, and Power Point files as necessary.Communications Assistance - Arrange and confirm schedule for testing, interviews, focus groups, site visits, etc. Assist research and management staff communications with clients and others.
