As a community worker, mentor, storyteller and disrupter, I am dedicated to supporting and providing care for the collective that is not "one size fits all" - care must be intersectional and dismantling systems of oppression. Currently, I am working toward my Social Service Worker diploma and dedicated to providing support to 2SLGBTQ+ newcomers, immigrants, refugees, and youth. I am completing my social work placement at Rainbow Railroad, a social agency working to support the resettlement of queer refugees around the world. I also work with and support community members at The 519, which is a community centre committed to supporting 2SLGBTQ+ folks through programs, drop-in services, legal initiatives, and more.At the same time, I am a full time freelancer, supporting SMBs in their customer retention strategy, lifecycle and email marketing, digital channel growth, and copywriting. I focus on a being a key player in a client's customer storytelling and journey building. As for my role as a mentor and facilitator, I worked closely with Apathy is Boring Toronto's RISE program, mentoring a cohort of ten youth to build and launch a community project. The project launched in December 2023 and brought together youth in Toronto to talk about finding your role in social movements. I have also worked for Girls E- Mentorship, mentoring high school girls to reach their personal and professional goals. My capacity for one-on-one mentorship, facilitation, and support to youth and peers is one that I am constantly expanding. My mentorship philosophy is to always lead with empathy, equity, and dedication.Outside of my work in community organizing and care, I participate in creative spaces through my poetry, theatre performance, and writing work. In the past year, I have performed at The Tranzac Club, Rhubarb Festival at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, and with Shakespeare in Action. In both my personal and professional life, I am an advocate for 2SLGBTQ+ rights, immigrant and refugee mental health, and climate justice. Banner image credit: Connected Archives
