As an astronomer, I am captivated by a wide range of celestial objects, including comets, stars, nebulae, and galaxies across various redshifts. However, my primary focus lies in understanding the chemical evolution of galaxies through the study of their emission line diagnostics. Currently, I am investigating HII regions—ionized gas nebulae—within the Milky Way to explore how spatial variations in the physical properties of ionized gas, such as electron temperature and density, affect the measurement of chemical abundances.The Milky Way's proximity and the detailed view we have of its chemical composition offer valuable insights that can advance our understanding of galaxy evolution. This work also helps constrain models for both local and high-redshift galaxies. Since HII regions are sites of past star formation, their ionized gas produces a wealth of emission lines, which serve as key indicators of the gas's physical and chemical properties.To conduct this research, I am leveraging high-quality data from the SDSS-V Local Volume Mapper (LVM) telescope, located at the Carnegie Las Campanas Observatory in northern Chile. The LVM is the first integral field spectroscopy (IFS) survey designed to cover more than 1 steradian of the sky, including the southern Milky Way disk, the Magellanic Clouds, and hundreds of nearby galaxies.
