Engineering Intern

Odessa, Florida, United States

During my tenure as an engineering intern at Dilo, my primary responsibility revolved around pioneering the first ever Raman-based sensor tailored for detecting 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)propanenitrile (C4F7N) gas. This sensor is to be deployed for various industrial purposes, including room monitoring, gas analysis, and leak detection within DILO's operational context. This system was designed for the purpose of detecting and quantifying impurities within the C4F7N gas and its associated by-products. I took a leading role in the project, particularly in assessing the feasibility of employing spontaneous Raman scattering (SRS) for this specific application. It's worth highlighting that while various sensing techniques have been previously employed to analyze C4F7N, there has been no prior research utilizing Raman spectroscopy for this purpose. Consequently, I had the privilege of pioneering the application of Raman spectroscopy to investigate and analyze C4F7N, making my work a unique contribution to the field.
