I lead the Partner Technology organization. We connect to diverse range of partners across several business lines through Partner Central (app/web) portals and connectivity APIs both direct and through third party distribution systems. We own distribution services such as Pricing & offers, Inventory, Reservations, Catalog, user reviews, Geo & Destinations. We build trust in our two-sided Marketplace through Trust & Safety services for both Travelers and Partners. We build Advertising Tech including both Traveler and Advertiser experiences and corresponding backend services. We own and influence the entire Amazon ecosystem: how a product is discovered and displayed, how a product is stored, packed and shipped, how we dispose waste in environmentally safe manner, how we execute product recalls, how we enable cross border shipments & implement customs limitations and tariffs.

Selection Discovery enables the discovery of billions of products in the catalog by organizing them into a Discovery Taxonomy across 15 countries and 25 languages. This Taxonomy provides the definition of thousands of product types (“what is this product?”) and product facets critical for discovery. When customers search for a given product, it enables search to provide relevant search results, including non-product entities (like “Buying guides”), and provide optimal customer experiences, including refinement filters. The Taxonomy also has destinations (“Father’s day Store”, “Camping Store” etc ) that enable serendipitous discovery experiences. We use advanced Machine Learning techniques to classify billions of products into the tens of thousands of possibilities and tens of billions of product assignments to search and other systems. We manage “Tier-1” high available, high throughput, low latency services that vend the Taxonomy that are critical in keeping Amazon’s discovery experiences running. I manage 300+ member strong diverse team of Software Engineers, Applied scientists, Taxonomists, and Classification Specialists through multiple layers of management spread around 6 international locations, in addition to Seattle.

I manage the Item Data Quality group within the Search and Discovery organization. Our mission is to continually and measurably improve the quality of information within Amazon’s massive product catalog with the goal of providing an awesome experience to our customers; whether they are looking to discover and buy something or just research products they are interested in. Improving data quality is a very hard problem, given the diversity of products, the variety of our data sources and the sheer scale of the catalog (about 600 million items, growing at the rate of 100 million per year). We design and develop systems that allow us to measure, correct and prevent data quality issues at scale. I manage the Fact Extraction team within the larger Catalog Quality department. Our team specializes in extracting high quality structured product attributes from semi structured merchant feeds aimed at improving Amazon's global catalog offering and enhancing Customer experience on Amazon's website. We develop and constantly improve our rule based engine that extracts textual and non textual data based on several key contextual information. It's a good mix of research, pragmatic software development and real time, large scale, scalable systems design, development and deployment issues. I was the software development manager for the CV reporting solution; part of AGFA Health care's comprehensive portfolio of cardiovascular solutions consisting of image management and structured digital reporting. The CV reporting solution facilitates cardiology departments to create quick and effective digital structured reports for catheterization and echocardiography, congenital heart disease, nuclear cardiology, and non-invasive vascular. My role is to lead the CV reporting team to design and develop additional enhancements, fix outstanding issues/bugs present in this product based on the recommendations of the product manager for this product and ensure timely release of the product line. In this role I provide technical direction, architectural inputs, create and implement project plans, provide status updates to upper management, assign resources to short and long term tasks, define and evaluate yearly and mid yearly goals for my team.
