Calgary Scientific (CSI) products bring real time interactive software to cloud and mobile platforms. It has since been re-branded as PureWeb.I provided technical leadership and daily management for a team of 15-30 product managers, developers, QA and technical documentation staff. Autodesk is a NASDAQ listed (ADSK), American multinational software corporation that makes software for the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, and entertainment industries.Achievements- extensive technical work with Weblogic Java application servers- problem area was focused on route planning algorithms for cross-continent scale road networks- exposure to mobility products supporting geolocation use cases- Ran a highly successful 15 person development team distributed between Calgary and San Rafael that always delivered on time and on budget- Achieved dramatic performance optimization for a massively scalable, high availability systemExperiences- Best exposure I have had to a world class Product Management team and my first effort to integrate Agile processes with this team (mixed results)- Managed the development of the Platform product for the Location Based Services division. Stormworks was the technical arm of an Internet incubator with numerous Canadian based investments. Schlumberger Limited is the world's largest oilfield services company.Achievements- Maintained start-up team cohesion and morale for a 9 month period following acquisition by a very large multi-national- Traveled to many Schlumberger offices to learn their processes and identify ways to integrate them with Merak processes with minimal disruptionExperiences- First exposure to the structure and processes of a very large multi-national (80,000+ employees at the time)- Explored opportunities for integration between the Merak Value Suite and the other product lines built by Schlumberger

Merak Projects was an oil and gas economics software product company acquired by Schlumberger in 1999.Achievements- provided technical leadership to a software team building Windows desktop products that displaced incumbent main frame solutions- Managed the 40 person software development team responsible for Merak’s most profitable suite of products, including Peep, the company’s flagship product- Acted as Product Management on Merak’s second most profitable Value application- Managed IT at various points Experiences- First experience as a manager - First experience as a Product Manager- Exposure to and in-depth experience with oil and gas economics (Canada, USA and International), risk analysis, decline analysis and portfolio management- First experience managing a multi-disciplinary team (product management, project management, quality assurance, software development and technical publications)- Products were primarily Windows based, stand-alone applications- First experiences with software release processes and software development process optimization- First experience with multi-site development (Canada, US and UK)
