Programme Director of BSc In Brewing and Distilling @ SETU (CAO Course Code: SE521)Programme Leader of Brewing and Disstiliing SETU/CICT-HUAHE Currently lecture on a wide range of modules in brewing alongside biochemistry, molecular biology and human physiology.Research active in brewing and biofuel produciton. My current research interests include process optimization for potable alcohol, grain whiskey production, grain composition and alcohol yields, as well as the impact of agronomic treatments on yields and alternative biomass for potable alcohol production.I formerly worked as a biofuels researcher, focusing on the development of second-generation biorefinery technologies. This research was done at NUI Galway's IETSBIO3.PhD obtained in 2019 from IT Carlow- PhD thesis was entitled "Microbial bioremediation and physicochemical treatment of landfill leachate".

The main objective was to examine ways to phytoremediate wastewater and soil of selenium, before using this biomass in reactors for biofuel production. This work involves the use of both micro and molecular biology, and aspect chemical science and bioinformatic analyses of genomes and 16s rRNA for microbiome analysis. -

It sought to develop a cost-effective treatment option for LFL based on the combining treatments, which will be suitable for implementation on-site in landfills in Ireland. During this research, I have improved and developed new skills with the areas of microbiology, molecular biology, compounds analysis (chemistry), as well are reactor design and setup and in-situ treatment.
