Many years ago a neighbour gave me a plaque "I am still learning" and that is still true today. I am interested in maintaining skills I have but also always open to learning more. My career path has been a bit more winded than most but each of these turns has been invaluable. I have worked for An Post for over 20 years. Initially I worked on a temporary basis but returned full time in 2010. Throughout my time with An Post I have worked in a variety of roles including delivering mail, sorting roles, indoor work, acting Working Leader and acting Indoor Administrative Assistant. More recently, I completed a Train the Trainer course and now present induction courses to new recruits as an Operational Trainer. An Post is operating in an ever changing environment. There have been many changes in my workplace since I first started from increasing emphasis on parcel delivery, decreased mail volumes, changes in processing technology, using more sustainable ways to deliver and the emphasis on creating new opportunities. I feel privileged to have experienced part of this history and intrigued to see what the future holds.An Post has given me the opportunity and experience in dealing with customers on many levels. Working through the Covid-19 pandemic really emphasised the social importance of this company in the community. It is fascinating to see the role we played during this time and the connections we make possible. My interest in these dynamics stems from my educational background in Applied Psychology and Health Psychology. I attained a BA in Sociology and Psychology and a Higher Diploma in Psychology from UCC. I also attained a MSc in Health Psychology from NUIG. More recently I received a special purpose award in Leadership in Health and Wellness in the Workplace from TUS.I am also very interested in Health and Wellbeing and how a workplace can be a massive influence on both of these. It is encouraging to see how organisations adapt to promote a work life balance. Outside of my role in An Post, I also operate a tyre business with my husband called Direct Tyres. Seeing an opening in the market for a mobile tyre service, we began our business in Mallow in 2015. I am responsible for finalising the Vat accounts and Tax returns. This opportunity has really helped me develop my computer skills using Microsoft Office, Emails, Sage and more recently Team Systems. I also have an interest in nature, biodiversity and sustainability. I am fascinated by what we can do not only at an organisational level but what we can do personally.
