My mission is to live with authenticity and purpose. I love the incredulousness of humans and the sheer beauty of our glorious world but as many a daydreamer I am often perplexed by the gross acts of destruction we as humans perform upon each other and our planet.As a consultant to the charitable sector, I work with organisations who support the hidden or underrepresented, to increase their reach & impact through strategic planning, bid writing, leadership and board development. I work with organisations that can make a real difference to people’s lives. I started my funding journey in the 1990s and progressed to building and managing Birmingham’s first External Funding Unit. I liaised with funders, & established a regional forum so we could funnel resources into local causes. Being a conduit for those doing amazing work to access millions, felt good. In 2005 I was seconded to RegenWM, the regions regeneration centre of excellence, forging partnerships & identifying skills for effective change. Since 2006 I have supported the third sector, enabling communities to have agency by developing leaders and winning millions in funding, it’s all good.In 2007, I started SHAKTI WOMEN. I looked for a place to meet like-minded women and was denied access from several national groups, so I started something for women who looked like me.Supporting women to own their power is joy for me, and 20 years on, when I see women we’ve worked in positions of power, I feel pride.I joined BRIG because racism is an ugly blight on our society and economy. Racism takes lives. It is a cancer that preys on the mental health & dignity of black people. We dream of & push for an anti-racist city. It’s not an easy task but we have to believe it’s possible. Isn’t that how every great movement starts, with a dream? I have always loved the marvel that is our natural world and remember hosting Green Funding Fairs and advocating for a tiny urban wood in Quinton when I was at the council. But I joined the Green Party because it makes sense. I want to live in a world where people & planet come first. The system is broken, and I like what the Green Party stands for. I love humanity, I love my city, I love our world and I love most of all living in the belief that each and every one of us can make a difference. “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way.
