In this role I was responsible for the effective overall management of the Chamber’s membership recruitment performance. My role at Sheffield Chamber was to introduce new and established businesses to the Chamber and the range of services it provides through membership. This involved forging relationships with potential clients in order to cultivate new memberships. My role required me to have the ability to build rapport with both new and existing clients and maintain relationships. It required excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. Specific duties included: to ensure targets are met in line with the business plan, maintaining accurate records and statistics for review against performance targets, to highlight new/complimentary commercial recruitment and training sales opportunities, maintain regular contact with members to build a positive relationship and maintain a high standard of customer care. Attendance at internal and external functions to promote membership of the Chamber and it’s services was also key to the role.Whilst in this role I was commended for being the only member of staff in Sheffield Chamber history to achieve target for 12 consecutive months.

Within this role I was expected to achieve pre-determined targets on a monthly basis in order to expand the club memberships. This was achieved through lead generation, cold calling local businesses and by formulation of a referral scheme. Knowledge and understanding of daily KPIs was essential in order to underpin personal target setting which I undertook on a regular basis. The role required high levels of self motivation, determination and effective interpersonal skills in order to engage with the general public and enhance the potential for translating a prospect into a sale.

This job role required conducting effective gym inductions for new members, assessing, designing and developing exercise programs and maintenance of all gym equipment. Most importantly this job role required the maintenance of a safe environment for all gym users, identification of the needs of members and providing outstanding customer service at all times. Experience as a personal trainer provided an in-depth insight into the requirements of potential clients in terms of their fitness needs. I then translated this knowledge into an effective sales technique in converting enquiries into membership. This process required sound interpersonal skills and a significant element of approachability and accessibility. In addition to this, the role provided vital experience in the meeting of target figures on a monthly basis. This in turn necessitated constant monitoring and evaluation of my personal performance. My senior role required me to train and motivate the sales team and to monitor their progress. I was promoted after 3 months in recognition of my achievements.
