Most notably I led the effort of creating a new BigCommerce Design System and Component / Pattern Library. This consisted of an underlying CSS framework we could create and share themable design patterns from, to use across each BigCommerce platforms. Also an HTML and JavaScript component library for rapid feature development and greater control and maintenance of products with large UIs, by allowing product engineering teams to just focus on business logic instead of UI. As a Senior Front-End Engineer at Bigcommerce I also led the front end architecture for a product filtering feature on the store front.

I was invited to rejoin Flippa in an experiment in remote working from Sydney, with the team in Melbourne. During this time I designed and built the new Domain Name Appraisal tool, currently in limited preview, to facilitate crowd sourced domain name valuations for Flippa users. Working on their Rails backed web app I created OOCSS using Sass, on top of Bootstrap 3, along with a host of Angular.js directives and factories to enrich the UI with asynchronous actions, such as commenting and liking.

Performing various development tasks as a senior UI developer, and acting as lead and mentor on a big rebuild project of More Than Medication, and helping introduce the use of Git and GitFlow to Orchards version control practices.

At Flippa I’ve been able to help them transition away from a development driven product design process, to a more user centric process, where products that give a better user experience is the main goal.I have worked as lead UI on a couple of start-up ideas, most notably Dashfolio, where I was heavily involved in UX / UI design, and the main developer on the Backbone app that powers the main part of the User interface of the Ruby on Rails built product.

At Reflecta I was brought in to lead UI development for the companies main client, Medibank PHI. Working as an integrated resource to Medibank, I helped transition the company’s HTML and JS style guide to a solid, useable product to build future web projects with. I helped maintain their Backbone.js based “Quote tool” and customise it for corporate clients, Rio Tinto.I was also instrumental in suggesting process improvement, the introduction of bug tracking software and collaborative tools to help the CX team streamline their workflow. Also build upon their development guide and coding standards.

At Abacus I joined the Frontend Development team which was part of the Portsmouth based design department. Responsible for working on XHTML templates for the internally developed suite of applications such as Webvision CMS, Dispatch email delivery, and Webstructure CMS, I used advanced CSS techniques to deliver accessible, high performing Frontends to some of the UKs largest publishing and public sector names.I worked on websites for publishing titles such as Design Week, New Media Age, The Engineer and on the award winning Lincolnshire County Council suite of websites.

Starting off as an ASP (VB script) and ASP.net developer, I was involved in building, maintaining and administration of client websites. I was involved in full stack, end to end delivery of web applications, from design, build, to hosting and server maintenance.I was heavily involved in the Interface design of Clickfire's Content Management System and that is where I started to get more involved in Frontend Development and Integration of designs to the CMS. By the time I left I was Clickfire's dedicated Interface developer.
