About Siu-Teing K.

The main goal of my role as a research engineer has been to bridge the gap between research and commercialisation. This includes reviewing scientific literature, prototyping, and further developing these to minimum viable products (MVPs). This has been such an enjoyable and inspiring experience that I only wish to continue exploring to commercialise more innovative healthcare applications of technology.A key highlight for me was SocketSense - a Horizon 2020 project in collaboration with partners across Europe. In the project, we embarked on the whole design and development process from concept to defining the product and technical requirements, through to the development of a fully functional prototype. The prototype was validated and verified. Meanwhile, a batch manufacturing process was also established to produce 40 units of the prototype for use in a clinical trial held in the UK and Spain. Additionally, I was fortunate enough to present some of our findings in a lecture session at the OT World conference that I was invited to co-chair.As a product design engineer in the bionics team. My role focused on mechanical engineering aspects of micro-processor controlled prosthetic knee and ankle joints for the market. The key highlight in this role was my involvement in the product launch of the upgraded Proprio Foot in 2023. I learned the stringent processes in place in order to successfully pass Gate 6.
