About Siu Yan Scott
I have gained experience and worked progressively in leadership and management for the past 12 years as Registrar for the School of Medicine. I lead, supervise and manage a team that is responsible for the maintenance of medical student enrollment, academic and credentialing records of more than 1,000 active students and alumni, as well as the scheduling and maintenance of hundreds of clinical electives at affiliate hospitals. In my role as the SOM Registrar, I am responsible for department staff hires (including interviewing) and performance evaluations, budget and project management, presentation development, manage data, create and maintain internal and external relationships, and participate in program assessment and strategic planning.Since 2012, I have been a professional member of AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) and acted as Chair of the Graduate and Professional School Issues Committee from 2014-2016 to help ensure representation and coordination of topics for annual conference. Prior to my Registrar role, I was the Program Evaluation Manager for Curricular Affairs at the School of Medicine. For 5 years, I managed the coordination and implementation of quality improvement surveys to students and faculty. I reviewed student feedback data (from more than 100 students) every few months and prepared reports for faculty dissemination on a regular basis. In my spare time, I actively combine my background in social work, mental health management and non profit education with an interest in sustainability to volunteer as an Ohio Advisory Board Member for the Trust for Public Land. I support our over arching goal of Parks for People - a park within a 10 minute walk for everyone! Being outdoors can decrease feelings of depression! I have a passion for social missions which engage sustainability and arts with community empowerment in order to create socially impactful positive outcomes. Recently, I renewed a love for sewing and now helping to co-lead Cleveland Sews: Sew-A-Thon this Spring 2024. Its social manufacturing model is an inclusive and innovative approach to community engagement that could potentially showcase how to create a new, sustainable textile manufacturing industry in NEO. I am interested in an environment that can benefit from my seasoned, professional experience while continuing to offering me exposure to new and invigorating challenges.
