For over 13 years, I led cross-disciplinary teams to transform how students, staff and community members accessed purpose-built spaces at York University. As Executive Director of the York University Student Centre (YUSC) corporation, I managed an operating budget of approximately $10 million and a reserve fund of $18 million with 120 staff to ensure that approximately 250,000 sq. ft. of community space across two buildings on the York University campus met the needs of the campus population.Recognizing the need for more space on a growing university campus, I led the creation of the award winning 126,000 sq. ft. New Student Centre from start to finish, overseeing the consultation, design, financing, and construction of a modern building costing $72 million. The project was successfully delivered on time, and under budget with no scope changes. I was responsible for all aspects of the organization including human resources and organizational development, strategic planning, facilities management, finance/accounting, hospitality services, marketing/design, events, internal/external client relations, public relations, and capital projects. I also ensured that our business activities focused on revenue generation, spurred the creation of new YUSC enterprises and managed the various contractual needs of commercial tenants.
