I started as a Software Developer in Cognizant (Healthcare domain) in 2001. During the initial years of coding, I was excited to solve real-time business problems (such as health insurance claim payments, compliance data exchange, health benefits pricing, etc) through technology. I was inclined towards proximity to business/end-customer problems so that an apt tech solution can be envisioned and deployed. Hence, I chose the career path of "domain-centric technology application and delivery management". I grew up to become "Associate Director" in 11 years. During this journey, I had been part of seed/”first” teams in key initiatives, developed domain expertise, managed delivery of large projects across different technologies with peak revenue of US$50 million. I used to blog on uncommon management topics in Cognizant's internal blog site.In 2014, I took up the Technology Leadership role (CTO to be precise) in a Public Health organization (ICTPH). The "rural areas" element in ICTPH's primary care focus added color to my vision for tech. I worked out a strategy for IKP-TechPrima's (ICTPH's tech platform) adoption in the broader public health space and executed it. The most satisfactory part of my ICTPH journey has been the vivid conversations with doctors and health nurses in rural areas for effective use of technology in health care delivery. IKP-TechPrima's utilization in (a) 70 primary health centers across 3 health districts as part of Tamilnadu Govt.'s ambitious Universal Health Care project and (b) 97 Urban Primary Health Centres as part of Tamilnadu Govt.'s "Urban Polyclinics" project were key milestones. I started online e-commerce marketplace "Oor Sandhai" (www.oorsandhai.com) to enable sales of native food products. The primary objective behind this marketplace is to connect typically non-online rural & semi-urban merchants (who produce traditional Tamil food products) with urban consumers.
