I’ve been in the shipping industry for the past 8 years. Having come straight from school without any prior exposure to the industry, I had to learn and adjust to the environment. To qualify for a position in my current company I had to go through stages of interviews varying from practical to theory and the more individualised interviews which I successfully completed and was accepted for an internship. Since then I have grown more confident in my ability to grasp information and implement it in everyday situations. I have learned a lot in regards to business ethics and having a professional approach to my dealings within the industry. Having been involved in such a big company, I have been fortunate enough to be exposed to all aspects of shipping from Imports operations from Imports procedures all the way through to Client Services.
