As the senior data leader at Spear Education, I was responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of Spear’s corporate data solution. This extensive ecosystem included data inflight (ETL/ELT, Change Data Capture), data at rest (data warehousing, data marts, operational data stores), analytics (reporting, data visualizations, predictive analytics, machine learning), and data management (data governance, stewardship, and architecture). I was instrumental in the identification of critical tooling, including Matillion, Talend, and FiveTran for data movement, Tableau for data visualizations, AWS/Redshift & Snowflake for data storage, DataRobot for predictive analytics, and ERSuite for modeling. I implemented data management disciplines, such as data governance, stewardship, and quality management, for data availability, reliability, consistency, and security. I was responsible for project and resource management, planning, budgeting, staffing, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting for all data projects. I negotiated contracts with vendors, suppliers, customers, and partners, offering leadership during periods of crisis or change initiatives. Finally, I provided mentorship and coaching to a team of data professionals to maximize their full potential.

AAs the Chief Data Officer, my responsibilities included crafting a vision and implementing a comprehensive strategy that promoted the perception of data as a strategic asset. This involved outlining a strategic vision and developing a detailed project roadmap to improve the Department of Economic Security data framework. I championed robust data management practices, including data stewardship, data quality & integrity, standardization, accessibility, and governance. I oversaw the agency's analytics capabilities at an extensive level. I led the DES Data Services team, which consisted of data & analytics professionals who delivered solutions across the agency. In this role, I spearheaded initiatives to establish self-service Business Intelligence (BI) services, allowing users to better access relevant information.

At Republic Services, I oversaw an 80-member (onshore/ offshore) team; in the delivery of enterprise-level solutions. As Director, I managed an annual budget of $20 million, which encompassed operating and maintenance (O&M) and new project activities. I formulated a five-year strategy for enterprise data and integration services; and successfully implemented a $5 million integration framework that included data, services, and API components. Other project deliveries included complex integration services utilizing TIBCO Business Works and Mashery technologies, the creation of a robust BI solution employing Qlik, Cognos, and Hyperion tooling, the deployment of a predictive analytics solution leveraging R & Qlik tools, and the adoption of Continual Improvement and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) principles to enhance the deployment of technical solutions.

At American Airlines, I oversaw a hybrid team composed of USAirways and American Airlines resources, tasked with integrating corporate systems to facilitate the corporate merger. The projects under my leadership had a budget exceeding $15 million and involved a workforce of more than 100 employees and contractors. I led data efforts to successfully migrate the US Airways reservation system (SHARES) into the American Airlines (SABRE) platform. Additionally, I merged the data from the US Airways data warehouse with the American Airlines Teradata data warehouse. I also integrated the US Airways Financial Accounting system into the technical infrastructure of American Airlines. Finally, I led the data unification of the frequent flier programs into a single solution. As a director at USAirways, I oversaw a team of 35 professionals responsible for all aspects of design, development, project management, testing, and implementation of complex data-oriented solutions. I developed and executed a corporate data strategy that utilized operational data stores, data marts, enterprise data warehousing, Business Intelligence, and data governance principles to provide high-quality data assets to corporate clients. I executed essential corporate projects, including the In-Flight point of sales solution, an Aircraft Maintenance solution, and various systems related to pricing, revenue management, and financial accounting. I identified and integrated new technologies, including Informatica, Oracle-Exadata, Microsoft’s Parallel Data Warehouse, and Microsoft’s SSRS/SSAS tooling to transform the US Airways environment into an industry-leading solution.

As a project management consultant, I led on-shore/ off-shore team of developers in the migration of Wells Fargo and Wachovia data into a single unified data store in support of corporate merger. In this role I coordinated quarterly releases to migrate customer data from Wachovia to Wells Fargo data stores; oversaw the implementation of ETL code base (Informatica Power Center) to support migration activities; directed vendors, developers, business groups, and SMEs in the development of an ETL infrastructure to migrate multiple environments (4 – 3.5TB Oracle, 3 - 2TB SQL Server databases); led offshore QA team in all testing code and data testing activities; created compliance and security deliverables to ensure the secure migration of confidential customer data.

Healthways is a well-being improvement company founded in 1981 As a data governance consultant, I conceived, designed and chartered the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Office to create and promote data management principles. In this role, I established corporate data strategy, including the development of corporate charter; developed and published all EIM deliverables including: data governance charter, data stewardship handbook, data quality guidelines, and complete set of audits and controls; developed and deployed data quality metrics, reports and data profiling scripts; deployed a large-scale data warehouse solution to support data quality and integrity standards; and configured and populated Informatica PowerCenter with corporate data elements and metadata.

Managed three teams of data professionals in support of various Wells Fargo IT initiatives. Team responsibilities included systems integration, data quality, and data stewardship. Teams worked closely with data architects and the PMO to ensure that best practices were followed in support of several large, critical corporate programs. The teams established data quality and profiling events which increased overall enterprise data integrity by 55%, created data quality, data governance, metadata management (MDM) and data stewardship services to support data integrity, and enhanced the existing Metadata repository (Rochade) and operational data stores to better support day-to-day business needs.

NDC Health Information Services offered products and services to the health care markets. These products included electronic claims processing and adjudication, practice management systems, electronic data interchange, billing, and data warehousing/analysis. As a project manager at NDC Health, worked within a matrixed organization, where project managers oversaw hybrid teams in the deployment of critical corporate applications. Team accomplishments included multiple enhancements to the NDC data warehouse, establishment of a Data Governance Office and the acquisition and installation of Informatica PowerCenter and Netezza technologies.

Designed and managed the development of a Project Management/ Resource Allocation application for a multi-national construction firm. This solution leveraged .net/Oracle technology to perform resource allocation across multiple projects for an international construction organization. In support of this application delivery, I managed all aspects of the project development lifecycle.
