Women in Publishing is a voluntary networking organisation, so I worked on the committee alongside my full-time employment. My primary role was co-ordinating the members' directory; this included commissioning and editing content, negotiating the print contract and liaising with the designer. I published it on time and to budget in 2000.

Managing a small company publishing a newspaper ('Varsity', the Cambridge student newspaper; weekly print-run 10,000), a website (www.varsity.co.uk) and books ('The May Anthologies', annual volumes of poetry and short stories by Cambridge and Oxford students). I oversaw teams of student editors, liaised with external printers and other suppliers and negotiated contracts for advertising to be inserted in the paper and online.
