I am the team lead of the Advanced Threats team supporting one of Raytheon's flagship missile defense radar programs. As the leader of this team, I guide a team of approximately 10 junior, senior, and principal engineers that focus on the design, development, and testing of algorithms to detect, track, and discriminate targets of interest. From a managerial point of view, I am responsible for estimating staffing needs and reporting earned valued metrics to my leadership team. Technically, I am responsible for the team's work products throughout the design lifecycle. I work with the program's technical leads and chief engineer to craft multi-year technical roadmaps for each new capability and then draft the relevant proposals to obtain funding from our government customers to execute the designs to realize that roadmap. Once funding is awarded, I guide the brainstorming process and prototyping of new algorithms using MATLAB and/or C++ while ensuring the designs meet both internal and external stakeholders' technical requirements while staying on time and on budget. Ultimately, the team produces software requirements and I and the relevant subject matter experts on the team work with the embedded software engineers in an Agile software development process to implement the team's designs. As the capability owner, I am also responsible for agreeing to the test plan crafted by the test engineers and signing off that the designs meet all requirements once implemented and tested in the tactical embedded software.

I am a member of the Algorithms Design and Development team for one of Raytheon's radar systems. I am responsible for designing, prototyping, and the performance analysis of new algorithms and the improvement of existing algorithms to expand and increase the capabilities of our products. In these efforts, I heavily utilize digital radar simulation software to generate a variety of data sets and MATLAB for data analysis and visualization. I am also responsible for developing the Systems Engineering requirements for these algorithms that form the basis of the inputs to our software development teams. Once the software team has developed the tactical software, I support the verification and validation efforts to ensure our design is functioning as expected.

I lead continuous improvement and reliability projects within the Locomotive Systems Engineering team. The goals of these projects are to increase the overall reliability of the locomotive and resolve customer specific issues arising from their specific application environments. I also control the configuration and lead the system validation of locomotive design for multiple customers. I determine both hardware and software requirements for 13 subsystems, ensure customer requirements are met while minimizing the risk of harmful interactions between subsystems, and am responsible for design and validation of approximately 20% of locomotive volume.Additionally, I provide Systems Engineering support to our locomotive production teams to ensure each locomotive we ship passes a thorough engineering evaluation before leaving our manufacturing facilities.

As a member of the Advanced Technology and Innovation team, I worked with our most senior engineers to evaluate new technologies and methods to improve our existing products and to come up with new products to be developed in the future 2-5 year time frame. I also led the design, fabrication, and testing of proof of concept hardware/software and engineering prototypes of a new product. This effort included system level design, component selection, safety analysis, and managing a team spread across the globe.

The Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) is a rotation based leadership development program that consists of 4 six-month long assignments across the engineering organization. In addition to traditional job responsibilities, program participants undertake 2 nine-month long courses: the first course focuses on advanced engineering fundamentals; the second course focuses on business specific technologies and systems, encouraging systems level thinking and resource considerations. Rotations:Aug 2011 - Feb 2012: Electric Drives Control I developed embedded firmware for the control and diagnostics of three phase inverters providing regulated 3-phase 480V/60Hz power. Feb 2012 - Aug 2012: Train ControlI led the systems integration of supplier sourced products to the main control system of the locomotive. I also developed customer specific software features which were required to execute on the locomotive's control system and interface with third party hardware.Aug 2012 - Jan 2013: PropulsionI led cost reduction and reliability projects pertaining to medium-power three-phase alternators used in locomotive and off-highway truck propulsion systems. Jan 2013 - June 2013: Advanced Technology and InnovationI designed and implemented fixed-point algorithms for execution on real-time embedded platforms to perform prognostic functions; this provides early warning to customers so they are able to take corrective action before serious damage occurs to their equipment.
