Mechanical ventilation is a life-saving treatment for many patients on the ICU. Finding the optimal ventilation settings for an individual patient is however challenging as it is not directly possible to predict how the patient's lungs will react to the chosen ventilation strategy. In this position I am developing new computer simulation techniques to patient-specifically assess optimal mechanical ventilation settings.
