I am a Research Associate for the Stimson Center's China Program. My research interests are U.S.-China great power dynamics, China's approach to foreign policy and bilateral relationships, and identifying ways the U.S. and China might build confidence to weather crises and cooperate on issues of common interest. Additional projects I am engaged with involve analysis of China's role in conflict mediation, particularly in the context of China-Afghanistan relations. The goal of my work is to promote peace and stability at all levels of governance especially on an international scale. I believe that a stable U.S.-China relationship is essential to global peace and prosperity. Through my career, I seek to develop research that contributes to a more nuanced understanding of China through careful analysis of primary resources. If you would like to get in contact with me, please email me at sarah.j.godek@gmail.com.
