I expect to make positive changes with this position by using my skills in grant writing, leadership, and accounting to help with improving the City. One of the primary functions of this position is to monitor and approve of City spending/budget plans. I must be cognizant of the City's available funds, and make informed decisions on what purchases are appropriate.

The primary responsibility of this position was to provide assistance to small businesses pursuing grants through the SBIR/STTR program. Due to the technical nature of the SBIR/STTR programs, it can be difficult to put together a winning proposal. As Grant Lead at HSMC, I provided resources to HSMC clients to simplify the experience so they could focus on what really mattered, their innovation.

As President of a start-up company I was required to fulfill many different roles. Grant writing, accounting, payroll services, hiring, scheduling, customer engagement, cyber security, IT, export compliance, and website design just to list a few. This position challenged me in ways I did not think possible, but I rose above each challenge and thrived despite my limited experience in those fields.

Acted as a liaison between my senior leader and all those under my charge. Ensured Marines stayed on task while simultaneously creating an environment where subordinates felt they could bring problems through me that I could address or bring to the senior leader.

An additional billet required of me during my time as Platoon Sergeant was Financial Advisor. I was required to attend a week-long training course which covered a broad range of topics within the finance field. Upon completion of the course, I was appointed to be the Company's financial advisor to junior Marines. If you know Marines, then you know this billet required a lot of attention, creative problem solving, and analytical skills.

My primary responsibility was maintaining a database using Oracle. Duties consisted of inducting bad gear, requisitioning new parts, and ensuring all purchases/labor spent reflected correctly on Oracle.

Technical MOS was 2847 Telephone Systems Personal Computer Repair, but the units I served with required me to maintain a high proficiency in repairing primarily radio and data equipment.
