As a senior scientist in cell therapy product manufacturing (CD34 derived red blood cells), my role within the organisation was leading upstream/downstream process development for preclinical research.Key roles included:• Operation of stirred bioreactor systems for the manufacturing of mammalian cells, which includes: system assembly, probe calibration, monitoring, controlling and optimising process parameters, maintaining sterility, preparing supplements and feeds, troubleshooting technical issues, analysing data and documentation.• Developing analytical protocols and tools for determining quality of cell products from upstream culture processes to downstream purification.• Working with bioprocess models to optimise nutrient delivery and medium formulation for cost efficiency and maximisation of cell growth, productivity, and product quality.

In this role I developed super-resolution microscopy methods to perform live-cell single-molecule imaging to study fundamental processes in bacteria. My key roles were:• Laboratory based practices: biochemical analysis, genetic manipulation, advanced microscopy.• Data collection, processing, statistical analysis and interpretation. • Developing analytical approaches to understand, describe and visualise highly complex large datasets from advanced microscopy.• Presenting at international conferences • Scientific writing of reports and publications in scientific journals• Peer reviewer of research articles• Supervision, training and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students• Engaging in journal clubs, Oxford biophysics symposium and the Oxford bacterial network

Awarded a studentship for the competitive Wellcome Trust 4 Year PhD Programme 'The Molecular Basis of Biological Mechanisms'.I developed biophysical and biochemical methods alongside molecular modelling to confirm the mechanistic function of a class of bacterial transporters.
